'Destination Unknown' for Tourism students Training and Education Pictures

Students on the Tourism Academy course at Swansea College can now perfect their skills in a brand new 'virtual' travel office at the Tycoch campus.

'Destination Unknown' was officially launched at the recent college open evening.

"The virtual office will play a crucial role in the students' development as it gives them the opportunity to practice their customer service skills and expand their knowledge via live role-play," explains Curriculum Team Leader Emma Vincent. "Although it's next to a classroom it is set out like a real travel agency office with a desk, telephone and shelves full of brochures."

A competition was held to find a name for the new facility and the favourite - Destination Unknown - was suggested by students Sheldon Owen and Cloe Rees.

"The launch of Destination Unknown is a really exciting development for the students," says Director of Faculty Beverley Wilson-Smith. "Tourism is a huge growth industry and we are keen to capitalise on upcoming developments like the 2010 Ryder Cup, the 2012 Olympics and the Blue Stone leisure complex in West Wales."
