Counselling training is top-notch

WHEN experienced psychotherapist Lynne Wager returned home to Swansea, she could not believe how few training opportunities were available for people wishing to become counsellors.

Those who wanted to gain a diploma had to wait on university waiting lists or travel long distances.

In order to meet the obvious need, she set up WELL Training to provide high quality, ethically sound counselling training.

It equips students with the certificate and diploma required by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy to allow them to pursue careers as counsellors.

Three years on, Lynne has established a complete range of counselling courses, from an Introduction to counselling, through to the certificate and advanced diploma level.

As demand has grown, she has expanded the team of trainers, who all offer a wealth of experience, knowledge and specialisms in order to provide students with in-depth knowledge of cognitive behavioural therapy and person-centred and psychodynamic counselling.

Her hard work has paid off, the ABC (Awarding Body Consortium), who provide accreditation to institutions who meet its high standards of educational and ethical practice has decided that WELL Training meet their requirements.

From September, all of the courses Lynne and her colleagues offer will be accredited by ABC.

"We are delighted that ABC have recognised our achievements to date, and with this accreditation behind us we will be able to widen the range of courses we offer, with the emphasis on high standards." said Lynne.

"We are really excited about how things are going.

"We?re also planning an advanced diploma in CBT in the new year, which is currently unavailable anywhere else in Wales.
