It was easy to find your way to the Diversity Fayre at Swansea College today...you just had to follow the rumble of African drums and the hip hop beats.
Every year students, staff and community groups gather at the Tycoch campus for this carnival of music, colour and dance to mark Celebrating Diversity Month.
Many areas of the college were involved in this wonderful event from Hair and Beauty, Welsh and Plumbing to Travel and Tourism and Sport, says Jane John, Equality and Diversity Leader. There were competitions, makeovers and practical demonstrations for everyone to enjoy. Our community partners also provided opportunities for sari dressing, henna painting and hair braiding and there were plenty of unique arts and crafts for sale too.
The Diversity Fayre also included demonstrations of Brazilian martial arts and creative dance performances from India and Africa.
?By working alongside our community partners and local minority groups we aim to engage with all students and staff so they really think about the issues whilst having a lot of fun, adds Jane. Together we make this a vibrant celebration of the richness and diversity of our community.
The College worked alongside AWEMA [the All Wales Ethnic Minority Association] as lead partner of the Curiad Calon Cymru partnership, which is part-funded by the European Social Fund.
