Green prize for parcel company

PARCEL delivery giant DPD, whose local depot is on Swansea Enterprise Park, has just won an award for environmental improvement.

DPD was voted best for reducing its carbon dioxide emissions and for its recycling programmes in the highly contested award, presented by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

The company was particularly commended for its innovative approach.

DPD's chief executive, Dwain McDonald, said: "This is a fantastic recognition of how we carry out great environmental practices while maintaining the highest levels of customer service.

"We?re delighted with this acknowledgement.

"We were the first company in the parcels sector to invest in high volume, double-deck vehicles to transport parcels using fewer vehicles.

"We are particularly pleased that this best practice is now being adopted elsewhere as it's great news for the environment."
