Fillyourstage.com was launched a little over two months ago designed and created in Swansea. The site was made to enable venues to search for and hear bands before booking them. Although there are similar websites in the UK to Fillyourstage.com the general feeling from Bands and venues registered on the site is that it is far easier to use than the others and is completely free where others charge.
The website was launched with a gig in the Pontardawe Inn by Cakehole Presley, the gig was about celebrating all that is great with live music and the night didn't disappoint. Since the launch night over 500 bands have registered from the UK and although this is a great start Leon Vincent from Fillyourstage realises that there is still plenty to do 'its been a great start, we always said that the first few hundred would be the hardest part and so to get to 500 already is great. Bands are now contacting friends of theirs in other bands about the site and so each day we look at the site there are more and more bands on there. It is my job to make sure that the momentum carries on though, our ultimate aim is to have as close to every band in the UK signed up on there. The site is free, takes a minute to join and so we think this is more than achievable.
Leon is also excited about a website they will be launching later in the year 'Fillyournight looks fantastic, it could genuinely change the music scene across the UK, it will be so easy to find the gig your looking for through the site. The basics of it is you put in your postcode, how far your willing to travel and all gigs that you want will show up. But you can go into more detail than this, break the search down to genre and even whether the venue has real ale or not. It looks fantastic but we need to concentrate on getting more bands and venues registered on fillyourstage.com before we get to carried away with that.'
There was a dilemma with the site when it was launched as to what to concentrate on, band or venues? 'it was difficult because bands don't want to join a site that has very little venues and venues won't see the point in searching for a band if there are only 5 bands on there, we opted to go for bands first and are now turning our attention to venues but still need many many more bands. We would like to double up by the first bank holiday in May, that's my aim, 1,000 bands for then.'
If your a band or a music venue check out www.fillyourstage.com to see how easy it is to register.
