The award dinner for West Wales Roaring Dragons will be held on Thursday 26th March at the Halliwell Centre in Carmarthen by the Institute of Welsh Affairs.
The businesses were nominated by -Giving Sir Gar - , - an initiative promoting & supporting partnership working between business & the voluntary sector.
Local businesses making a contribution to the area in difficult economic times are to be recognised at an awards dinner.
The Institute of Welsh Affairs is to honour five firms which are striving to create sustainable economic success.
Parker Plant Hire, of Llanelli, Castell Howell Foods, of Cross Hands, Gravells of Kidwelly, Nolan uPVC in Carmarthen, and LBS Builders Merchants in Llandeilo, have been nominated for the first Roaring Dragon awards.
They are being honoured for making a real difference to communities in the region.
The awards will be held at a dinner at the Halliwell Centre in Carmarthen. AM Kirsty Williams, leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats, will be the guest speaker.
